After living in Africa, Australia and Europe at present Madhvee has made Singapore her home. Her family is her biggest strength and guiding force in her existence as an artist. Madhvee’s interest in photography was discovered very late in life, but as they say, “it is never too late to live your passion”. Madhvee’s fascination for travel and photography has given her many opportunities to explore different countries and their culture. Madhvee sincerely believes a successful photograph can be achieved only when you are able to evoke the same emotions in your photo that you experienced in person.
Madhvee hopes to inspire viewers through these narrative visuals and motivate them to visit these places and experience them in person. The interplay of environment and culture fascinates her and she aspires to reflect its dynamic beauty in her work. As she says, “a photograph is not just about that one shot, but it is about thoroughly knowing your subject and bringing out the character”.
She has another approach to photography, which communicates her personal artistic interpretations of encountered incidences. Many of her inspiration are drawn from the intricacies of her personal experiences and everydayness of the social encounters. Her work is in particular informed by the notion of capturing emotions, remembrance, identity, human perception and comprehension of reality. This body of work can be viewed at www.madhveedeb.com.
Madhvee has a degree in Fine Arts from the Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore. Her works were part of “Art Stage Singapore 2014”. She was also nominated for the “Prudential Young Artist Award 2014”, and during the same time she was also shortlisted in two categories for “Eyes on Asia Awards”. Madhvee has participated in an art talk led by award winning photographer Francoise Huguier, organised by “Alliance Française de Singapour”. Madhvee has also exhibited in various group exhibitions.
